I am a dynamic, experienced designer seeking to collaborate with intelligent, enthusiastic people on challenging digital media assignments. My versatile hard skills in visual design, photography and product development are complemented by softer skills in strategy refinement and socio-cultural understanding. EXPERIENCE

Photographer, Designer & Lecturer, 4/02 – present
Based in Kyoto and San Francisco.
Conceptualize and implement digital media projects with cultural and educational emphasis. Provide strategic support and advice for interface design, usability and end-to-end user experience analysis.
Lecturer for the Communication Design Group at the Creative Design College in Kyoto (Zokkei Daigaku).

Art Director, Interaction Design, 7/00 – 3/02
Modem Media (formerly Vivid Studios), San Francisco
Led the visual design development for interactive advertising and mar-com web sites for the likes of Michelin, Hewlett-Packard, Personify.com and Intel Home Computing. Co-designed the award-winning surfer online magazine Swell.com. Realized projects from rough drafts to implementation for online and print.

Sr. User Interface Designer, 8/99 – 7/00
NetAbacus, San Francisco
Co-designed the UI design and front-end engineering for a purchase order web application. Contributed to a successful naming and branding project. Responsible for company's cross-media implementation of identity design. Did information architecture, user interface design, front-end technology strategy, design and implementation.

Lead Designer, 2/98 – 7/99
Publicity Office, San Francisco State University
Responsible for developing and revising SFSU's web site. Orchestrated the SFSU site, designed the identity, handled brand integration, and managed internal and external design resources. Led promotion campaigns and expansion of publicity services. Created award-winning event identities and environmental design projects.

Sr. Brand Designer, 4/96 – 1/98
FutureBrand (formerly The Coleman Group)
Designed product identities and package structures for leading food, non-food, cosmetics, fragrances and pharmaceutical brands, including model prototyping. Led global branding projects and managed international design groups in the New York, London and Hamburg branch offices.

Art Director, Visual Design, 12/95 – 1/96
NOW Advertising Agency, Basel, Switzerland
Conceptualized and realized ad campaigns for the watch, pharmaceutical, and paper and service industries. Hand-illustrated numerous presentations and design concepts. Directed photo shoots and TV commercials.

CI Designer, 12/94 – 11/95
HEADS (formerly HSB), Zurich, Switzerland
Designed and collaborated on corporate identity programs for consumer and investment industries as well as cultural institutions. Was responsible for coaching of trainees and design interns.

Design and Production Supervisor, 7/93 – 9/94
Urban Promise Print Studios, Camden NJ
Led customer projects from inception to delivery. Was responsible for design and production team of silk screen studio, as part of a social integration program for juvenile offenders.

Served large and small clients on a variety of identity and print projects. Also did project management, planning and systems administration.

Familiar: Flash, Acrobat, PowerPoint, FinalCut Pro. MS Office. Windows, Unix/Linux.
Non-computer: Strong use of digital photography, lomography and camcorder. Traditional visualization and prototyping skills with a pencil and paper. Potent thinker and brainstormer.
